Ares Free Download
Ares Galaxy (also known as our Ares free download) is a peer to peer file sharing application which allows users in the network to both download and upload files between each other. This can be done through either the built-in P2P network or using torrent files which this tool also has support for. There are quite a few other unique features included which makes it much more than just a file sharing application.
Introduction
Ares Galaxy was originally created back in 2002. Back then it didn’t have its own network, in fact it was running on another popular system at the time called Gnutella. This was the case for around 6 months, until the developers realised that it just didn’t offer everything that they needed and therefore decided to built their own file sharing network. One of the benefits of this is that it’s much more difficult to identify from most other competing products, making sure it can pass through firewalls without any issues. This is especially useful on very strict internet connections such as in universities.
This application is open source, as are quite a few of the ones we’ve talked about on our website. We think that this is something great for users – if anyone can access the source code and the programming then more features can be added and updates can be released quicker. It’s also nice to be able to provide your own input to make the software better for everyone. If you love the tool then we really do recommend that you get in touch with the developers so that you can tell them what you think about it and any features you might like added. This really is a community project.
After 2002, it began to gain in popularity due to the downfall of competing products such as Napster. Governments and media companies were starting to see an increase in piracy and therefore wanted to crack down on them, which led to a lot of tools being threatened with legal action if they didn’t shut them down. In 2005 and 2006, Ares had the same problem and was forced to shut it down but they didn’t give in – instead, they decided to make it open source so that it could never be stopped. Even if the developers were threatened the network would always live on and this has definitely remained the case. It’s still used by millions of people around the world today.
More and more updates have been released over the years adding much more functionality to it. In version 1.9.4, for example, BitTorrent was added to allow people to download from a much wider variety of sources – now users could go to websites such as The Pirate Bay and obtain what they’re looking for from there instead. One thing that you’ll probably learn about our Ares download is that it tries to provide everything you could ever need so that you can make much more choices.
